The Blame Game

The other night a few friends and I were grouped up playing Call of Duty MW2 on our XBOX 360s.  During one of the breaks between game sessions, the following conversation took place:

The Little Things

Thus far I have avoided writing about anything personal on my blog.  Why?  I wanted to focus mainly on raiding in World of Warcraft.  However an event in my life helped to backup the thoughts I had shared here.

Retribution vs Lord Jaraxxus 25 Man

Here we have our 25 man raid fighting Lord J in TotGC.

The last few videos had me tanking bosses in 10 man, however this one has me DPS-ing.  Why is that you might ask?  Well, a Warrior tank is better suited for the encounter because of two special abilities.

  1. Lord J’s Nether Power can be taken off by Shield Slam
  2. Lord J’s Fel Fireball can easily be stopped by Shield Bash

A few things I want you guys to look at in this video:

  • DPS need to switch to the portals and volcanoes ASAP!  Once they have been dealt with, switch back to Lord J.  Let the ranged DPS deal with the adds UNLESS they are close enough to the boss to DPS.
  • At about 1:45 in the video you will see me use AMS while running away from the elementals as they are blowing up.  If you are not a tank and get caught in the fire, help your healers out!
  • At about 4:06 I get Legion Flame.  Notice how I stay in range of the healers (stay within the star) and how I run…stop…run…stop.  I minimize the chance of getting out of range of healers/making a bigger flame path by moving when legion flame ticks.
  • At 4:40 I get hit with another Legion Flame.  Watch how I run behind the flame path I already created.   No need to create another path of fire somewhere else for people to run through or sit in.  I also hit AMS again to absorb the damage from the DoT to help out my healers.

Retribution vs Anub

Retribution vs Anub’arak in Trail of the Grand Crusader 10 Man:

A few things I want those new to the encounter to look at:

  • 10 to 15 seconds before Anub burrows, I move him away from the ice patch on the ground.  Always move him closer to the middle, otherwise you run the risk of his spikes hitting the first patch of ice, which will make him chase someone else sooner.
  • Notice how when someone is getting chased, the rest of the raid runs to the opposite side of the “room”.  Put as much distance as possible between your character and those spikes.
  • While moving back and forth, everyone needs to be throwing out damage on the little scarabs.  Their stacking DoT hurts!
  • Unless the Nerubian Burrowers (Big Adds) are low on health, after Anub gets to 30% (Phase 3) focus solely on him.
  • The raid can sit anywhere between 20-40% health during Phase 3.  The less health you have, the less damage Anub’s Leeching Swarm hits for.  By keeping the raid at full health, you are only making your job as a healer harder.

Reliability

A few weeks ago Raid Invite had a few problems with our host provider.  There were a few days of downtime, where the site was either totally offline or unbearably slow to load.  After several attempts to contact support, whether it be through their email account or java based chat room, I decided the best course of action was to drop them.  If they couldn’t be reliable enough to keep my website up and running then there was no need to spend my money on their services.  I promptly switched to a new host provider and am (so far) very happy with the service.

Retribution vs Twin Valks

Been spending a lot of my time trying working on videos for raid kills.  I’m sure I still have plenty to learn but here is our 10 mans kill of Twin Valks in Trial of the Grand Crusader.

Edit: Video has been redone.  Learned a lot this week, special thanks go out to my guildie Strifect for putting up with my questions!

Phat Lewt!

I have a friend named Steve.  Steve IS the definition of a casual WoW player.  He is married with children and a job in the military.  He doesn’t have much time for World of Warcraft, but he does the best he can with what is provided.  The funny thing is that Steve always seems to get into weird situations when it comes to WoW.

That Summer Job

When I was 16 I started working at the local grocery store.  It was a full sized store with a deli, butchery, floral area, and a gas station.

It Never Fails!

It never fails.  It’s Monday night, an hour before raid time.  Im zooming around on my flying mount turning in daily quests, hitting the auction house for flasks, making “well fed” food and all of a sudden I get a text message.
